The partnership is an informal collaboration and has no legal status. The members sign a collaboration agreement and a vision statement. They also contribute financially. All members are part of a steering committee that choses a charmain.

We contracted a lawyer and expert in copyright law, Joris Deene (joris[@]deene.be), to support us in our goals. He has an excellent track record with regard to intellectual property and shares with all partners involved an interest in the rights of the user and in the public domain. He provides legal support and has a mandate to consult and negotiate with all important stakeholders. The partnership has given Joris Deene three specific tasks:

• He provides legal support for all partners;
• He assists all partners in developing vision and knowledge in this field;
• He partakes for the partners in consultation with all important players, for example all authorities concerned, right up to a European level.

This partnership is an open project. All members are striving to achieve a stronger position in order to better cooperate with the other players in the field of copyright: the authors or creators and producers. The partnership is always willing to attract new members to strengthen its representation.
